PA Fallen Soldiers Memorialized
Downtown Banner Program to Serve as Tribute

Harrisburg, PA, February 1, 2007- Mayor Stephen R. Reed and the Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District have
announced plans for a summer banner program that will be a living memorial to honor Pennsylvania soldiers who died in
the Iraq/Afghanistan war.

Titled Pennsylvania Hometown Heroes, the program, a partnership between HDID and the
American Gold Star Mothers,
will consist of at least 100 individual banners, each unique and honoring a specific Pennsylvania soldier.  The banners
will include a picture of the soldier, along with personal biographical information such as the person’s name, rank,
branch of the military he/she served, age and date/location of said person’s death.

“This is an important program, one that allows us to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country,” said
Mayor Reed.  “We welcome the opportunity to host this magnificent memorial in the Capitol City.”

The program is non-political, non-partisan and will in no way comment on the war.

The banners will be hung on streetlights throughout the greater downtown area and will be on display from May through
October, 2007.  In most cases there will be two banners per pole.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for each individual banner.  The sponsor name and logo will appear on the
bottom section of the banner.  For more information, please contact Milissa Barrick at (771) 236-9762, extension 101 or
email milissadidit@harrisburghello.com.
