New Cumberland Apple Festival
Saturday September 28, 2007
In our continued effort to increase our visibility in the community, Post 143
sponsored a booth at this years Apple Festival. The booth was a considerable
success and we received nothing but positive feedback from all who stopped by.
We are very grateful to Mayor DJ Landis and the Olde Towne Asssociation who
secured us an absolutely perfect location for our booth at the eleventh hour. We
will be better prepared next year, that I promise!
The front facing table displayed Post 143 items such as our teams,
community servie awards and Thank You Plaques and some of the many events
that Post 143 sponsors. Our purpose was to give the people of our community a
better understanding of your Post's very actice community involvement. But
most importantly, I wanted to show the public the selfless dedication and
commitment of our wonderful members. You are the best and I am so proud to
be your commander.
Other tables displayed information about the American Legion and our many
programs as well as membership elegibility requirements and veteran outreach
material.
We also gave out over 30 membership applications and sold our Post 143
Merchandise to great success. We hope the Mayor will wear her Red Post 143
Sweatshirt with great pride!
Special thanks go out to Jen Cutlip and Andy Pearlman from Lemoyne Sleeper
who donated overnight bags and Gift Certificates, Peggy Leete who donated
Massage Gift Certificates and our Home Association who donated dining room
gift certificates for our Toys For Tots Raffle.
Extra special thank you's also go out to Pete Wasco, Bob Heffelfinger, Laurie
Frizzi and Jocelyn Sexton for big time assistance setting up and manning the
booth, Jeremy Kendall for manning the booth and helping tear down and last but
certainly not least, our resident Firefighting Hero Keith Becker for helping out
throughout the day and fo making us an awesome breakfast! Bravo Zulu to you
all!!! We couldn't have pulled this off without you!!
With tremendous pride,
Commander Friz
PS Next Year we seek to have a double booth so come out and support your
Post and our community.
