Husbands and Wives, Co-workers, Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents,
Great Grandparents,Great Great Grandparents, and last but not least, your
home town veterans, reserves and active duty service men and women.
In a nutshell , we are your American Legion family...

Who are we?

We Are Post 143 !

Your American Legion family at Post 143 consists of over  800 Regular
Members, 297 Sons of The American Legion members, 371 Auxiliary members
and 209 Social members. Over 1,577 strong and growing !

Post 143's organizations strive to make a positive difference in our community,
the  wonderful borough of New Cumberland. We succeed only because of the
selfless dedication and hard work of our valued members.
Together we will !!

Post 143 was Chartered in March 1920 as New Cumberland Post Number 143.
The Post was rechartered in March 1923 as Wiliam H. Nauss Post Number 143
in memoriam to William Henry Nauss who was Killed in  Action in World War I at
Fiscmes, France while serving in Company C, 112th Infantry, 28th Division AEF.

Post 143 initially was located on Sixth Street in New Cumberland, later moved
to Third Street, and dedicated our current Post Home at
214 Market St. On May 2, 1998.

Post 143 is so much more than bricks and mortar. Yes, we are very proud of
our Post 143 Home, Canteen, Kitchen and Banquet  facilities, but they are only
as good as the people who occupy them.

The spirit of William H Nauss still resonates through all the volunteer works
performed by our members throughout the year;
Toys for Tots, Veterans Day, Memorial Day Parade, VA Veterans Hospital,
Breakfast with Santa, Post 143 Legion Baseball, NCYBA  Baseball, Scholarship
Funds, Cedar Cliff ROTC, Poppy Princess, Cumberland County Womans and
Children Shelter and Make a Wish Foundation are just  a few of the events and
organizations that we sponsor and support.
There are so many more...

We work hard but we also know how to have a good time. Our members enjoy
our Nutsy Open and Dean Rodgers Golf Tournaments (With proceeds going to
charity, of course) We also have functions on New Years Eve, Valentines, Day,
Christmas, Veterans Day  and many others such as our famous S.A.L. Ham and
Cheese blitz's and extremely popular Auxiliary Halloween Party. As with our
golf tournaments, the proceeds from our functions go to a local charity or
organization.

We also sponsor some of the top Billiards teams in the area, and have a
summertime golf league at DDRE. We also have our beloved Golden Tee.
If our members can play it ,we will somehow find a way to be involved.

We recently installed four new Sony HD Flat Screens TV's in our Canteen and a
new Bose Sound System for our members as we continually try to improve our
Post. Stop in, relax, have a great meal and beverage and enjoy our
camaraderie.
We think you will like what you see.

We would like to thank all our members for their support and
the tireless energy expended by so many of you for such good
heartfelt causes. Bravo Zulu to you all!!
