Lebanon Veterans Administration Hospital Steak &
Chicken Cookout Sunday, September 16, 2007
On Sunday September 16, 2007 while most others were gathered around the
television watching football, a loyal, dedicated group of 35 members from Post 143
spent the most heartwarming afternoon imaginable hosting a cookout for 60
Veterans at the Lebanon V.A. Hospital.

Ed,Bob,Skip and Dave were the "grillmasters" who barbecued 60 New York Strips
and 40 Pounds of Chicken Breasts for our hungry Veterans.

Colleen and our second to none Auxiliary manned the serving line which was
loaded with an assortment of home made side dishes provide by "The Girls". The
desserts were mouth watering home made pies made by Mellisa, who is too young
to know how to bake so well!!

Denny spun his usual assortment of great music. We were entertained by one of
the veterans who sang "God Bless the USA" (even though some of the Vets
jokingly groaned saying "don't let HIM sing again"!!, seems he likes to bogart the
microphone)

We also donated over 10,000 minutes of phone cards for our proud Veterans to
use at their convenience.

The Veterans and Staff couldn't thank us enough. To a man, they all said it was
the best cookout ever at the V.A Hospital, bar none!!!!

I know that may be biased because we brought Steak and Chicken instead of the
usual Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, but I know deep down in my heart that it was
beacuse of the wonderful people of Post 143 that made it so great
and
so unforgettable.

I have never been so proud to be a part of a group as I was on this day. It brought
tears to my eyes many times watching the unselfish and dedicated teamwork of our
Post 143 superstars. It is truly a privelage to know you all, and it is an honor to call
you my friend. I can't thank you enough. God bless you all.
